Clinical experience with maintenance therapeutic plasma exchange in refractory generalized myasthenia gravis

2021

This article discusses the use of maintenance therapeutic plasma exchange (PLEX) therapy in patients with refractory generalized myasthenia gravis (MG) (aka those who do not respond to traditional therapies). The study involved 14 patients who received maintenance PLEX therapy for 12 months. The results showed that maintenance TPE therapy led to significant improvements in MG-ADL and MGC scores, reduced medication use, and a decrease in acute MG exacerbations.
