Autoantibodies in Myasthenia Gravis

2013

This brief article discusses the discovery of a technique to detect antibodies to Lrp4.  The authors state that 9 out of 300 MG patients who did not have antibodies to AChR were positive for Lrp4 antibodies.  They go on to discuss how prior studies have suggested that Lrp4 antibodies play a role in the dysfunction of the neuromuscular junction and highlights the need for further understanding of the neuromuscular junction and the studying of newly discovered autoantibodies.
