Clinical Significance of OX40 and OX40 Ligand in the Peripheral Blood of Patients with Myasthenia Gravis
2022
The study investigated the clinical significance of OX40 and OX40 ligand (OX40L) expression in the peripheral blood of patients with MG. These molecules play key roles in regulating the body's immune response thus they have been studied in numerous autoimmune conditions, but not specifically in MG as they pertain to disease status and treatment response which is what the authors sought to study. They found that these molecules were expressed differently in MG patients compared to healthy individuals, and their levels changed depending on the stage of the disease. The study suggests that these molecules may play a role in the immune process of MG and could be potential markers for disease status and treatment response.
